MEMS Market: Medical and Optical Application
Presenter: Zbigniew Radzimski, PhD

Thursday
October 23, 2008
5:00 PM

Location: Sonny's
Longly West Plaza
7689 S. Virginia St.
Reno, NV 89511

Zbigniew Radzimski

Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) are micron-sized structures such as beams, cantilevers, diaphragms, valves, plates, and switches that can function as tiny sensors and actuators. They are fabricated by integrated circuit (IC) manufacturing processes; that is, by bulk and surface micromachining. Like ICs, thousands of micro-machines can be fabricated on a single wafer with supporting circuits integrated on the chip. They can be mass-produced in the millions at low prices, which is their main appeal.

The presentation will review major technological steps that are involved in fabricating such structures using various device examples that are currently built for medical and optical applications. A short overview of Silicon Quest capabilities in this field will be also presented.

Highlights from our meeting in October

Zbigniew Radzimski, PHD, President of Silicon Quest, presented on: MEMS (Microelectromechanical systems) market: Medical and Optical Application
